Farewell Runaway Rhymes

farewell runaway rhymes.jpg

I have decided not to carry on with the Runaway Rhymes competition anymore, as I am going to be dedicating my poetic prowess to daily poetry curation and the odd contest on the account @poeticdreams, which @marialin and I share to support underrated poetry on Steemit.

If someone else wants to take up the helm and run with Runaway Rhymes and make it into their poetry baby, then by all means, please do.

There are some overdue winners I do need to announce though. In usual fashion, as with these last few competitions, everyone who entered will get some SBD.

PRIZES

First prize 5 SBD
Second Prize: 3 SBD
Third Prize: 2 SBD
Honorable Mentions: 1 SBD

Runaway Rhymes 1st Place is @johnwjr7

There are many definitions
of what a hero could be
And from my sister's description
that hero could be me

You see my sister needed a kidney
back in nineteen ninety-five
And if it wasn't for me donating
she wouldn't be alive

I really don't feel like a hero
it's just something I had to do
But I do get a warm sensation
when she tells me, "I love you"

Runaway Rhymes 2nd Place is @sumsum

I love myself, I have to say
I love myself more everyday
I love myself with joyful tears
I love myself letting go of fears

finally, I put myself first
finally, I listened to my thirst
for self-love and self-care
finally, there is love everywhere

I love myself, and you can too.
start today, I am telling you!

Runaway Rhymes 3rd Place is @clayboyn

Life sometimes moves more quickly than it should,
I'm sure we'd stop time if we thought we could.

Those perfect moments when we stop to rest,
As you lay your head down upon my chest.

Nuzzle my neck while I play with your hair,
Softly trace your skin without thought or care.

Holding you close with your legs in my lap,
The most peaceful place that I'll ever nap.

Taking your hand with our fingers entwined,
These are memories I can't leave behind.

Whatever happens next, they remain true,
In that moment, I was in love with you.

Honorable Mentions

@josediccus

Congrats everyone and thanks for hosting Hope!

Thank you so very much for running runawayrhymes. This competiton was the reason I joined steemit! I was concidering starting here when I saw your admiration for poetry and I fell in love with this place at once!

Thank you @sumsum I had no idea, that was the reason you joined - hopefully @marialin and I can carry on waving the poetry flag with @poeticdreams

I'll miss this, but I look forward to your future endeavors!

Thank you! Good luck with any new venture you take up.

Thank you for selecting me as the winner. I'm honored. I guess I will be the last one also. So, what is this other poetry contest you are talking about?
