Hello, my lovely poet friends.

I promise I will endeavor to be more consistent with this Runaway Rhymes competition.

See I'm getting better, only 1 day late this time :)

So this week's theme is "Love" and that is open to your own interpretation (as long as it rhymes)

WHAT TO DO

Write a rhyming poem about: "love" and that is open to your own interpretation and whatever and whoever you love (as long as it rhymes)

EXAMPLE

This is one I don't think I have shared yet...

New Beginnings

My heart is void of chains,
Untarnished from any grains
Ready for another chance
Of life's lottery seance.

The star that died shines again
The sun comes after the rain,
Your smile erases the pain
Of a yesterday so plain.

The planets go around the sun
As our lives with a love so young
Take on new dreams and meaning,
Leaving our inner souls gleaming.

The moon is real and round
My head is full of the sound
Of new horizons and joy
This is because of you, boy.

RULES

The rhyming poem has to be 8 lines or more.
It has to rhyme.

Here is my entry.

I love myself, I have to say
I love myself more everyday
I love myself with joyful tears
I love myself letting go of fears

finally, I put myself first
finally, I listened to my thirst
for self-love and self-care
finally, there is love everywhere

I love myself, and you can too.

My entry for Love. This is a true story.

There are many definitions
of what a hero could be
And from my sister's description
that hero could be me

You see my sister needed a kidney
back in nineteen ninety-five
And if it wasn't for me donating
she wouldn't be alive

I really don't feel like a hero
it's just something I had to do
But I do get a warm sensation
when she tells me, "I love you"

Thank you. I wrote that one today for another contest, but it fit into this one so well I just had to enter it here too. I've been thinking about my sister recently and that prompted this poem. When I saw the word "Love" show up, it just had to be right.

That's kind of you to say. If I just win at all, especially 1st, that will be good enough. I don't want to be greedy and deprive others of upping their Steem.
