Broken

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

Blue Ford Escort sits in a field
Old peeled iron paint exposes rust
Busted headlights and cracked windshield
Dust, dirt and cobwebs cover crust

Never again will it drive with popped tires
Long since it has had any engine fluid
Electricity dead, with broken wires
No one knows where is the gas tank lid

Doomed to be towed to the junk yard
Old useless things should be crushed
Destroy the lonely unloved shard
Dying weak sounds should always be hushed

I wrote this when I was 18 and homeless. I had a crappy blue Escort that I got for $300. It didn't work and people said it was junk. I fixed it up and it worked great until I left for the military years later. I tried to give it to another homeless person, and they ended up abandoning it in a parking lot. It was impounded and the dude never transferred the title. I gave it to him for free. Ironically it probably was crushed for scrap.

Man , were you really homeless? how's life now?
Btw, nice content, i will keep an eye on you :)

Thanks. I was homeless for 2 years before I joined the Air Force. I'm doing great now, complete opposite. I moved back to my hometown and bought a home.

Man, iam not kidding, i really wonna hear more of your days when you were homeless, if you dont mind i guess

I actually wrote a book about it. I'm going to release chapters for free soon. Sold it on amazon, but it needs to be edited and updated.
