Waves

in poetry •  6 years ago

An endless, vast sea.
Two lovers rock in the middle of the ocean.
A bond,
only held by a tie.

I wriggle lose from my confines,
and the darkness in front of my eyes fades.

But then,
there's you.
Struggling against the tides with passive resistance.

I cry for you as the boat breaks apart,
and I'm at mercy of the waves.
I'm drifting.
Why does it feel like I'm losing you?
Please,
don't slip through my hands again.

Just say I love you.

Something to hold onto.

Authors Note: A lot of you who follow my posts are aware that I suffer from clinically depression. My perception has changed a lot with medication and therapy but today, I wrote from the perspective of watching a loved one struggle with something you've fought and won against. I love my partner dearly.

We'll be fine, at least until the tide shifts again.
