Poem - Thief of Hearts

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

I found you in Paris
But your soul was in Rome
I held onto you like a rosary
As you robbed me of my love
You held my heart at gunpoint
And I was a slave to your seduction

You told me roses have thorns
But thorns can only cut skin deep
Oh! Was I wrong
And you used me all along
You eloped with my heart
The mirror of my love shattered
I am left pickin' up the pieces —scattered

Late into the night I yearn
For your deepest satisfaction
Your love, care, and affection I have never earn'd

You are a wanderer
A nomad in the land of my love
Like a wild stallion
You come and go
Grazing on pastures as you please
Leaving me barren
and deserted
For you truly are
A thief or hearts
