Emancipation (Short Poetry)

The feeling of hands being tied up,
While holding in cold prison bars,
The surroundings are dimmed,
It seems so endless.

The torture you inflicted on me,
Nauseating, and off-putting,
Got me weakened and immobilized,
In a state of dissociation.

Tried to act nonchalantly,
In a manner of being unfazed,
But the innerness is broken,
Crushed and crumpled.

The desire of emancipation,
Lives within me,
Break free from the struggles,
You brought me to adversity.

Freedom, freedom,
Cease the oppression,
The life of unrestrained,
From the agony you brought about.

Freedom, freedom
Bring the light on,
Takes me to the cheerful mood,
As the better life flourishes.

Nice peom. It gives us a glimpse of how those who were taken as slaves suffered. Slavery was very inhuman. Looking at how slaves were transported from the shores of Africa, being packed in dungeons of castles and then into ships inhaling the constant irritating fishy smell of the sea. And being subjected to inhuman treatment from their masters talking of rape, forced labour and the likes. We thank God that it has been abolished.

Thank you for this comment. It is full of substance.
