Gratitude in Flower

While I have died
A thousand deaths
Have drawn my fill
Of labored breaths
I’ve watched the stars
Pierce evening sky
As twinkling lights
Took pause to sigh

When winter’s chill
Stripped bare my bones
And robbed my voice
Of sweet dulcet tones
My arms once straight
With ice were bowed
At my innermost core
The life force slowed

Erebus must at last depart
As Flora begins her reign
Cycle follows sequence
This, nature does ordain
Bitter reverts to sweet
As gray turns into green
In cerulean skies above
Clouds parade pristine

While sap again flows free
In throbbing ivied veins
Seeds give form to life
In warm, sustaining rains
The gently nurtured buds
Of love’s abundant bower
With sun’s exalted grace
I give gratitude in flower
