in a normal star, where hydrogen is fused into helium to release energy, as it dies the other elements are created up to and including iron, which is a star killer.
It is only when a star goes Nova or Super Nova, that the other elements like carbon, calcium and magnesium are created.
So in fact, you and I ARE made of 'Star Stuff'
