Rain, flight, and pleasant lies [Poetry]

in poetry •  6 years ago

It was raining and I was a place to hide.

You nested in my hollow heart,

but you were leaving from the start.

Creatures with wings are bound to fly,

the sun rose and you said goodbye.

Loving you was a pleasant lie.

Don't apologize for having wings,

you left me with the songs you sing.

You'll find another, lovely like you,

and dance above the autumn moon.

Don't let my memory cause you pain,

nothing ever flew in chains.

But please, remember me when it rains.
