Let The Vultures Come
by Jaundré M. van Breda

'We are different wounds without,
but we ache the same within,' she said.
She's never shed a tear.
I guess she's always been a sky shy of rain,
or a thirsty river.
The truth is her heart has become a red desert,
and her love is a carcass.
'Sometimes two different wounds
become one scar,' I told her,
trying not to relive the pain of knowing
we were never meant to be in the first place.
