Take My Hand

When the world turns its fickle face away,
and the road gets dark and lonely as Hell,
you shiver inside on the coldest day,
and all your prayers won't your worries dispel.

Plans fall short and they may not come to pass,
life is what happens when we look away,
the days put surprises onto our path,
and in a moment our dreams slip away.

I pray that in life you know only joy,
and with your desires, heaven agrees,
though you're a man, you were my little boy,
and I swear to God, you can count on me.
