Conundrum

Some nights are desolate
And out of my need
I spin a dream
And make a world
accesible
To everyone but me.

It’s pathetic
This fallacy
Of intimacy—

This fictional
Territory
Of intricacies
With no relation
To reality;

Up out of the mud
Of my mortality

Comes a fable
Endowed with life
Set spinning
In space

A chimera
Of vagary
And delusion

Whose existence
Prompts
A question:

Why your phantasm
Haunt my dreams
With bewitchment
Of its own invention?
