Why?

In the town where no one stirs,
In the lonely town,
Silence marches like a garrison.


A man looks out a window,
A window square,
And imagines you will come.

Why is he in exile,
In love with his grief—
Had you planned this misery, this pathos?

Or has a passing face
Together with his grief
become in his soul

A sadness as inexplicable, perhaps,
As a tear's circle found
On a distant star?

Cómo me toca este poema, @johnjgeddes!! No sé si sabes, pero soy de Venezuela. Un país que se va quedando solo. Todos miran por esa ventana: todos esperan, todos se despiden. No hay un amor que quede firme ante tanto escombro, tanta desidia. A qué sabes las soledades producidas por la distancia? Tal vez a una promesa de un próximo recuentro. Te beso esas manos.
