My daughter, My royalty

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

Today, was foggy, literally.
The rain pelts the tin roof,
I saw the sun shine, through
window panes, opaque,blurry.

The beating that the tin takes,
is memorable like my Step-fathers belt.
Shelter doesn't always permit safety,
love, or anything that bears fruit.

Steadfast, not wanting to be my father,
mistakes... choices. I was better than that.
The glassy window blurs, symbol of my life,
The future seems to be revealed...

...Jupiter in Venus or whatever,
the scale has been balanced, my soul can sigh,
Gems of wonder appear at my feet,
a collection I have attained.

For my Daughter Iona. Happy 1st B-day!
