Drift ~ An Original Sonnet

The deep dark night of space so empty cold
he floats amid the falling balls of flame
so many planets circle round quite old
as comets mock the floating spaceman's aim

Will gravity be garnered once again
thoughts race to airy skies of birds and breeze
across the vast black nothing, missing rain
the earnest search for weight, not such an ease

No human space to commune within reach
no sun to warm the suit and bones for life
no food to fill this hollow stomach's breach
no water left for organ's vital strife

The shallow last breath slips from pale weak lips
how feeble life is, should not left the ships

You're welcome.

I find sonnets fascinating, and occasionally try my hand at them.
