Love Agony

in poetry •  6 years ago

Staring endlessly at the phone
Hoping somehow, you'd call
Even if we don't talk
Or never even did
I am quite sure that you were made for me
I am your missing rib
And you'll come searching for me soon

I stare at your pictures all day long
And when I decide to see the real you
I travel miles to attend events I never would
Just because I know you'll be there
I take a sitting position directly opposite yours
So I could see your every move
From the strand of your hair on your face
To the sparks in your teeth when you smile
The smile that melts my heart always

Something caught my attention
It was a lady
Was she family?
She walked in elegantly
You stood up, pulled out a chair for her
She smiled at you and you returned the smile
But unlike before, this time, your smile made me ache
Who was she? I questioned

She was all over you like she owned you
This disgusted me
I wished I could get rid of her.
Soon, it was dancing time
You took her hands in yours
And helped her off her feet
I was so focused on you
That I didn't realize the young man who was by my side
"Can I have this dance?" He said.
"Yes" I spat immediately before he could conclude his statement
I lost track of my surrounding and was mesmerizing in the euphoria of me and you
I had imagined you had asked me for a dance and I was smiling sheepishly.
"Ma'am?" He called me to consciousness as I remained fixated on a spot, eyes glued to you....

Bravo

The most hurtful love is the love not reciprocated.

Yea, apparently.
