Poem: "Stepping Stone" 5/3/2018

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

The flower blooms in the sun
So will I when time has come
Closed off now to cold brisk air
As sun rays break so does my stare

A stare so long held in distance
Now has reached much resistance
Could not see in front of me
For as I stared nostalgically

Looking back so fond in memory
Every moment fosters envy
This I will choose no more
And leave shortcomings at the door

Life gives choice, renewed rebirth
Name the price of your self-worth
For no one else can decide
The outcome held in your mind

Except for you and you alone
Take pride in the stepping stone
One step closer, the promise land
Where this place is in your hands
