Cast the First Stone

Some of us become Stones.

Made for others to pass over.

I'm glad I could help you cross this River.
This River of life.

I'm jagged but serve my purpose well.

You can press down with your heel
But watch your step.
Don't fall for me.
I cannot save you with your head dashed against mine.

I am stone now for a reason.
For all intents and purposes
Just an inanimate object in you view.

A sentinel of nature.

Watching as you passed me by in your walk of life.

I helped you learn how to carry on with your life,
my load being too much for one human being to move.

I'm made of stone.

Lingering in this stasis for so long that I've become
Mossy.

Silent and subtle
And if you stare long enough you might not notice me any longer.

I'll just blend in.

Maybe I've always Blended in, just as people in the crowds that you come across daily

Maybe one day you'll actually see me in public standing as everyone else
But I'll still be stone.
Possibly picked up and built into some structure that was placed in a mall.
I'll see you there.
I'll see the progress you've made.
Maybe you've learned What happiness is.
Maybe you're a bitter soul.
Maybe you're a counselor, a guru, a teacher.
Maybe your body is held together By the strong gentleman at your side.
One thing is for sure.
I'll still be stone.
Undetectable to occupied by passers
And my stare will be cold and fixed
As you pass over

Thanks for the feedback👌🏾😊. Really means a lot. I haven't been to open mics in years so I hardly have feedback these days.
