I sit my armchair, how did I get here?
All worn out and wrinkled with thinned out grey hair
My limbs very tired, I ache when I move
I try to move quickly, my body disapproves.

I look out of my window whilst knitting away
I see birds flying freely and children at play
My own children grown, my loved one has gone
In this time I am now, I don't feel I belong.

Gone are the times when I dance all night long
When I took trips and rocked my sarong
Flirting and counting I was such a catch
My dating skills now,not quite up to scratch!

And what is this floral nightie about
Hardly catwalk material, it needs throwing out!
I'm feed and i'm watered like a plant in a pot
Or a baby dependent whilst stuck in her cot.

This may be lonely and all I have now
But I keep on breathing and surviving somehow
I think back and light up, suddenly I smile
For my memories I have make it all worthwhile.

I lived a life of happiness and so much fun
"You only live once" I told everyone
Make sure you travel, sing, dance and shout
Follow your dreams, it's what life about.

I have no regret, not one thing I'd change
I just have one more wish, though it may seem strange
When it's my time and you're done with me here
Please bury me in my dancing shoes would you my dear?
