Nothing, An Original Poem, Calligram style, what is that ?

in poetry •  7 years ago

Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Where there was pain, there is nothing.
All this struggle went into nothing.
In my future there is nothing.
What caused this nothing?
Heart? Just nothing.
I feel nothing.
I'm nothing.
Nothing.

None.

Done.

Calligram writing is the process of writing something (it doesn't have to be poetry) in a way which creates an image of what your words are trying to relay. In this case, I've made an arrow from the words of the poem, pointing towards the word "Done", basically saying that all this nothing leads to being done with everything.

Guillaume Apollinaire is most known for writing poetry in this way, you should definitely check his Calligrammes collection out.

Nice one! I am still thinking about a way to write a poem in this manner, where words, meaning, rhyme AND shape combine perfectly. That would be awesome imo.

That would be epic, very hard though, these are usually written in free verse.
