Purgatory

in poetry •  7 years ago

I wrote this poem a few years ago during a difficult time in my life. I tried to make it as surreal as possible. Writing it provided a great cathartic release for me. I hope it isn’t too dark. Otherwise I hope you like it.

Purgatory

Somber walls of blue and white
Saddened eyes will trek
What's in between is a hallowed soul
His life seems such a wreck

Crackled walls that hide their secrets
I pierce the twilight hue
My heart quenches the luster
Of dismal teary dew

Fading walls with slowing heartbeats
Yearning to reach out
My dimming dimming fragile frame
Engulfed inside and out

Pale walls reflecting sunlight
Beckons its allure
My starry starry eyes will follow
The world exists no more

Silent walls with shades of grey
My feet will walk on through
The dying dying sunshine rays
I will no longer view
I will no longer view
