The Last Page

 The sadness the end
of book leaves behind
speaks volumes
chapters about our lives
the lives we wish we had
once had
the end of a dream
upon waking
sleeping is the
only time we’re really
awake disconnected
from the worries of
what we consider life
and that somewhere
sometime
the characters we imagine
are real, waiting
for sleep, or death or
the next page
we must keep reading
writing
dreaming
sleeping
dying
for what we believe
for somewhere
sometimes
the characters believe
in us.
