What a mess (Day 50 of 100 -- Poetry challenge)

I thought you were an air-tight container
and such a lovely vessel too.
Now I find there are leaks,
cracks in the seal,
split confidence —
dripping drops
of trust
dried
and
crusted;
sticky
words,
slippery in tone,
tacky-traps,
talky-talk —
what a filthy funk to find myself in.

First of all, the one thing that bothers me a bit in the piece is "Sticky words, slippery in tone, tacky-traps." Because slippery is the opposite of sticky and tacky.
Yes, they're both, but I'd have considered splitting up the "Sticky words, tacky-traps," with "Slippery talky-talk"? Dunno, but that stood out to me.

As for the rest of it, broken trust sure is an issue.
Some people say, "Break my trust, and you're gone."
And that might work for outright lies, or broken promises, but "trust" is mostly a question of unspoken assumptions. The Social Contract is in my mind the best example - we assume certain things are fine, and others not fine. When do we find that others disagree with us? When they do something we consider unthinkable, and then we find out that what has been assumed, has never been true.
And that is how the social contract gets negotiated, because once it's revealed we disagree, we talk about it, and negotiate where to draw the line.

And then, if people break something that was explicitly discussed, that is less excusable.

As to the "funk," I can see it in both cases, though. Either that someone knowingly betrayed our trust, or that the thing we thought we had, the person we thought we knew, was never that person, and the trust we shared, we now feel as if we need to reconsider its giving.

The real question, as I sort of alluded to before, is what do you do when the trust has been broken? Do you try to patch the vessel, of the trust? I find that is the core question at the heart of every relationship - whether you are still willing to work patch things through, or say that you're done. The moment you say you're done, so is the relationship.
And now that is I feel the real reason to funk. Either seeing a relationship lost, or what many people mistakenly do, just slide it over and accept it, rather than try to actually work things out.

"Split confidence" makes me wonder if it shouldn't have been "Spilt," because of the words that follow, but I could see the seal of confidence being split, and then confidence being spilt from it.

Sheer brilliance. Following the rules to construct this poem looked so effortless. :D

Thank you kindly. :)

It is almost as though a girl has to be wary of charm. I have been here with the wrong fellah but damn did he know how to set the mood. But if I werehonest, there were always big blaring horns playing the song of who he really was.

Love the word play and development on this one. Mamadini. Like the selfie too ... very powerful:)

Oh gurl.... <3 The shades of charm. The horns, yes… it's funny how we just keep on util it's deafening.

This is why we write. It's such a potent tool for self examination through artful (constructive) means.
I just want to thank you for always being so supportive, it means a lot and I feel the love. This is part of why this challenge has been so precious, these developing artistic relationships are the real gold.

As emotional as it is deep. Most souls can relate to feeling this way being that we've been there at some point in life. Beautiful piece :)

Thank you kindly. :)
