Death Letter

in poetry •  5 years ago

How do I imagine my end would be?
Could be standing on the top of a castle turret—staring at the sea;
Setting sun and sky of fire keeping me calm,
I’ll be in ecstasy knowing my manna is free from harm.

How do I imagine the end would be?
Warmed by the thought my hope and darling won’t grew weary;
Moon shines and shows no terror in my grave,
Hushed by the memory that I reached my final phase to save.

”It is not length of life,
but depthof life.”—Ralph Waldo Emerson
