Poem - Fairy Tales

in poetry •  7 years ago

Just some short stream of conscious stuff I scribbled together. In a bit of a down mood tonight, so I'd rather have it out than in. Apologies for the depressing content!

Are you really there?
Are you really listening?
I can't seem to make you out,
Not sure how long you've been missing
We used to laugh all night
Used to share the world
Now there's vagrant mumbling
Rehearsed mindless niceties
I hate the smell of you
You despise the sight of me
It's normal
This is what we were promised

The world is not for fairy tales
That's why we write our own
And as nice as forever sounds
We all die alone
Don't we?
