Bad Dream

The bad dream visited again:
it lay in bed with me
pulling on my blankets,
wanting to share my pillow.
It told me it would keep me company,
I feel lonely at night, you see?

We talk until sunrise;
it is a good listener,
it lets me flood the room
and teaches me how to swim every night.

I've befriended the bad dream,
we're learning about each other,
we pay attention,
we ask,
keep asking.

The answers arrive in different ways:
lurking in morning mist,
sitting between bedsheets wrinkles.
The bad dream tells me
that they might take a while
but they always arrive.

Well thought out poem, enjoyed it.

I have always believed bad dreams happen as a way for our own brain to prepare us for things we are scared of, or worry about. It is like training to prepare us for when these events might happen in real life. My opinion, anyhow.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, cheers.
