Purgatory

in poetry •  6 years ago  (edited)

Where was it again,
The little part of my mind
That didn't speak of despair?

I try to see them smile at me
Eyes, blinded by the fantasy.
Is it time?

Where was it again,
The little part of me that wanted to fly?
Where did it hide?
Or was it hidden by me?

I want to dig
Deeper into the oblivion.
Scraping. Clawing.
Nothing is here.

Expect them,
The ones I hold dear,
Whispering, "it's not the end."
It's not the end I fear.

I try although to let them know
"I'm not yet dead."
I did. I didn't have to.
They're all just in my head.
