I do a lot of writing. Most of it is automatic writing (writing without judgement and just allowing words to flow) and occasionally I'll plaster the obstinate label 'poetry' onto it.
Here's a piece I wrote today while sitting at a cafe in Taksim, Istanbul sipping on a double espresso.
I've called it,
'Smell the Papatya'
Here I stand at the end of the sky
waiting for another delusion
to take me off my feet
like a magic carpet ride
I've found the peak, the pinnacle, the win
I've gone to the Nths
and found only despair
The change required for true happiness
is one we must all share
Individualism is over-rated
these are the new terms and conditions of the new game
I can feel the new ground
the new earth
moist and rich
the next dimension
onwards, upwards
another world to fill
another world filled with little rooms to dominate
This the end
a new beginning
This the end
the next great illusion
the next grand bazaar
the spectacle of lights
the painting on the doorway
The grand facade
A grand moveable feast for freaks like you and me
I smell the Papatya
the roses
the Thyme
The new world sits
on the edge of the known
another horizon
another breach of contract
Limits are set
and then broken
We find the end together,
you and me
Nothing can ever tear us asunder
Breathe with me
Live with me
Know me
We are One.
This is the end
This is the new horizon
Oneness and equality
It's not a choice
It's inevitable
This is the end
This is the new horizon
fresh salty air for the weak limbed
We are near the ocean and we bend for nothing and no one.
