A Poem: Silence

Silence

Stop, listen, stillness, quite.
Strain to hear the silence, the beautiful silence.

The world roars louder and louder.
The collective screams of broken dreams.
Hopeless futures, scared pasts, abandon hearts.
The screams of selfishness.
Try as they might to deafen our ears to the silence.

That’s where beauty lives, in the silence.
That is where hope is found and life restored.
In the silence.

Listen for the silence.
Hear the beauty of a sunrise or a flower blooming.
Hear the beautiful sound of a child smiling.
Listen very hard for the silence.
Be still and slow and find it.
The beautiful silence coming from your heart.
