"Sojourn Finale" is the second of two poems I wrote which relate to the time in my life when I was a backup vocalist and flautist in a local Adelaide band called "Sojourn".

If you go back and read "Pretty As A Picture" first, understanding "Sojourn Finale" will be easier and negate any need for further explanation here.

So here it is....

Sojourn Finale

A short road travelled
but not one to forget.
So much I've experienced
and many people met.

Through thick and thin I stayed with him,
always by his side,
No matter when he needed me,
morning, noon or night.

The pretty picture played her part.
She played it with good grace,
Until the day he broke her heart
and she truly knew her place.

No more am I a picture
hung up on that wall.
No more will people stare at me
for I have had my fall.

The time has come for him
to take a place up on that wall,
alone up there as I stand back
and wonder when he'll fall.

Thanks for reading.
