Lights Out

LIGHTS OUT

When the fire burns, with one touch you'll get hurt
Enlightened or troubled you shall soon be
For this light so bright signifies the truth
You shall see what you have wanted to see

When the wind comes, and the firelight is blown
Prepare, for the darkness shall come your way
Get ready, `cause you might become alone
All shall become full black, and not just gray

When the light goes out, there'll be nothingness
Hurt, troubled, alone and everything else
You shall feel all these, then you shall feel less
As to when, you know not... time itself tells

Truth is, when the fire burns, you can see me
And when the light fades out, you can feel me

I composed this Shakespearean-style sonnet because I felt the sadness upon looking at the candle photos that I recently took. This is my first time writing a sonnet. Hope you feel what I feel.

Beautifully crafted words :) I don't know much about sonnets but this is great poetry. Quite sad indeed.

Thanks pal! Appreciate it. :)

This is great material indeed :) I felt "unescapable sadness" vibe.
Makes me want to own the feeling and write something too, something in Filipino probably. Again, awesome job!
P.S. I know now what a sonnet is. Hehe

Write your own so I can check it out! :D

I just recently starting learning to write sonnets, limericks and free verse. There are so many different types to still learn.

Yes. There are just very emotional moments that make me want to write poems and literary pieces, which allow me to learn first how to do them properly. I guess emotions drive us to be poetic. :D
