THE WHITE HEART OF WINTER

in poetry •  6 years ago  (edited)

THE TREES STAND TALL IN THEIR WINTER COATS,
CASTING OUT THEIR LONG DARK EVENING SHADOWS UPON THE WINTER SNOW LIKE BLACK STICKS THAT SCAR THE LILLY WHITE TERRAIN.

THE SCENT OF BURNING LOGS FILLS THE SENSES AS IT DRIFTS UPON THE CHILLED EVENING AIR.

FALLING SNOW FLAKES DRIFT LIKE FEATHERS PASSING THROUGH A UNIVERSE OF GLITTERING STARS.

THE VEIL OF WINTERS STARK BEAUTY ENCAPSULATES THE LAND IN A SHROUD OF VIRGIN WHITE LINEN, A TRUE PICTURE OF AUSTERE BEAUTY TO BEHOLD.

THE PENDULUM OF TIME MORPHS SLOWLY INTO THE TWILIGHT
AS THE EMBERS OF THE DAY FADES INTO THE SILENCE OF THE NIGHT.

WE LISTEN TO THE VOICE OF WINTER, WHISPERING IN THE WIND
AS THE LONE BIRD OF WINTER SILHOUETTES A GOLDEN SINKING SUN DRIFTING....DRIFTING .... HOMEWARD
