Confidence

In my younger days
I approached you with confidence
Caressed your face
Kissed your lips
Cherished you.

My hair graying
I wounded you with confidence
I approach timidly
With a limp
And a shake.

I want to say nothing
I want to do nothing
To cause your heart grief.

So I wither
Huddled with humility
As you stand tall
But bleeding.

Only your forgiveness
Can shed this shame
And leave me open and bare
And confident again.
