For your kindness I thank you

For your kindness I thank you

My beautiful friends

You strangers who’ve opened your doors

To this broken bird

That used to fly so strong, so free.

Eat, you say

Sleep

Do not think about it

Time, time will heal

Be quiet now, be still.

And me, I smile

While waves of pain

Are crushing my soul

While my heart aches

And my mind screams.

How can you not see

How can you not know

Me

This

How do you propose

A piece of wood in the fires of hell?

But me, I smile

And thank you, thank you so much

I’m better, I say

And leave

More broken than before

And more alone.

For your kindness I thank you

My beautiful friends

You strangers who’ve opened your doors

To this broken bird

That used to fly so strong, so free.
