The Lovers Grim

in poetry •  6 years ago  (edited)

As I sit here staring,
madly glaring at the pieces
of the past you left behind
Tiny, insignificant, trivial things
heavy with sentiment and regret
I pray the memories won't last
that soon I shall forget
the Love we nurtured, shared
like a prize we fought for tooth and nail
A young strong, innocent Love
that in no story could fail
Except for the Grimm fairy tale
we turned out to be

As bad as I was for you
you were even worse for me
