The Robot Me

in poetry •  8 years ago  (edited)

The robot me has done wonders
Allowing me to speak French, socialiser, parle politique,
Put on eye-shadow, drive car, watch TV,
Work fabulously, breast feed the kid,
Get mad, happy, make funny faces,
Crawl on my knees, run in the street,
Stand, look you in the eye,
Smile and show my teeth Painfully at first Step-by-step, but sure enough The robot me does it more efficiently Than I could ever do it consciously Now, it makes love to my husband I don’t dare disturb them As they graciously rock Plugged in rhythmically Without a thought In-between the sheets Inorganically Who is it? Me or it? I keep the questions in my pocket Don’t want to upset – break the pattern Have regrets that I can’t forget The robot me, like a thermostat set On automatic, is good Is that so obscene? So what if My husband’s fucking a machine [Copyright © Ivo Tomasini 2015 All Rights Reserved]

Wonderful! I absolutely love it. Scary but intriguing.
