Window of the soul. ( Original poem by @poeticsnake )

Window of the soul.

She's meaner than this world.

Yet softer than the colors of the warm summer sunset.

She's the happiest woman in the city,

But her smile masks her sorrowful emotions.

She has the most mesmerizing multicolored eyes.

But nobody looks into them, nor notices the reflecting deep green saturation of pain.

They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul.

This, I believe is true.

Her windows, in particular, are described as obsolete.

Jaded.

Sorrowful.

But are they really?

There is for too much pain in the way behind these windows.

A deep fog of betrayal

far too many misplaced stories and broken fairy tales.

Some say her soul is already six feet under ground.

But the soul is there.

It's hiding beneath the pain,

the stories, the fog, emotions, and all.

Some days, it is closer to the beautiful green hue of her mesmerizing eyes.

Some days, it choses to hide.

Some days it doesn't choose at all.

Or goes with the flow.

So my dear, I must now ask you.

What's behind the windows of YOUR soul?

"How are you doing?"
That question.
Has only one good answer.
To the many.
Who are too busy.
Just acting polite to ask.
Or is it rude.
They do not want to know.
When your really tell.
All of a sudden.
They have to go.

I love this reply! It hit home!
When asked how you are they expect to get the answer I am good, I am doing well and how are you? But when you answer in honesty....... Life is hard right now, I need help.... The stop listening and put their I dont see anything anymore glasses on and walk away...

It saddens me.

A nice word, a gentle smile can do so much.

A kind word from an understanding heart can keep one warm for a long time. Especially when it comes with a gentle smile.

I agree. I mean how many times do we cross a person on the street looking sad or down? A warm smile and a hello, or good day can already do something!

Indeed, being noticed is part of a good feeling that can be experienced.

Sometimes, all a person/soul needs is to be seen.

True.

You & I should have a poem-off

It's like a dance-off only in poetry. C'mon it'll be fun! We choose a topic and we both write a 4 stanza poem about it, and see who gets the most votes....

It'll be awesome!! ( Just like this poem )

Thank you for the upvote and I am game!

You pick the topic but I do need some time to write because I am not that fast lol!

So sad and yet so true. The eyes speaks out our true emotions. But not many people care to really look.

People are too busy to stop and really look.
It's a sad truth.
But I am sure that when more and more people see what lies behind they will make sure to stop.... and see..

Yes, that is why so many people feel alone and sad, no one cares...

Its like they all walk the streets with a wall around them....

She's sounds like many that walk the streets of this world. Unfairly masking her pain. Nice post. :)

Thank you @dreamingirwin
I agree fully with you. Sad thing is most are not seen at all.

...reflecting deep green saturation of pain. xxx

a wonderful line and maybe an outcast of her own volition or she was forced to be out of that whatever it is...

or we may be looking too much windows and yet we can't even see what's outside our own window!

The question remains, who is she really?
Is she just a fragment of imagination or is she ......

I've been thinking a lot about duality recently, your poem captures these thoughts quite brilliantly :)

Thank you ever so kindly! :D
