A Parched Rainbow

Magical_sunset_tree (2).jpg

the sky is barren
murmurations have landed
settled to tree
nested for pyrotechnics
then rest

on edict
dusk demands
the horizon
and its extremities
empty of all but color

tincture blend

sanguine and coral
blood and bone
bled and pounded

indigo sheaths
beaten and sapped
cured and smoke

embers offer
a hazy
but impressive
reflection
particles spark
pigment set on fire

a parched rainbow
ends a scorched day

A colorless rainbow, we do not even deign to see it.

Engaging imagery, especially in the closing lines:
"a parched rainbow
ends a scorched day”

Thank you, Denise. I added a stanza:)

This piece is super delish when read out-loud, the sing-song aspect flows so well. Very into it. <3

Thank you, mamadini:) It gave me a great feeling to write it too:)

Love it. I'm pretty sure this is about a sunset, but I also read it as fireworks, but then again maybe a sunset is a sort of firework.

Thank you, steveo. Yes, where I live by the western sea ... the sunset is a nightly fireworks:)

The parched rainbow has me feeling really thirsty. Do you live in a desert? The poem gives me the feeling that all energy is spent and all the color in the world won't satisfy the thirsty rainbow.

Thank you, Mineopoly. No, I live in the opposite of the desert but a temperate rainforest. However at the height of summer, days can end like this:)

Nice poem @prydefoltz :)

Thank you, brokeman:)

Love your poetry @prydefoltz!

Thank you, keith:)

How beautifully you have described the colors of the sky at dusk time when the sun sets. The sky is indeed worthy of observation, then.

So it is. Thank you, Sayee:)

I live on top of a hill and sun sets beneath me at a distance beyond roads to valley nearby. It makes a good spot for listening to good music and be.

Sounds divine:) Thank you, FOS:)
