Impotent Without The Wind

wind gets into my sails
my sails sure think
highly of themselves
powered by the current
boats aren’t birds
canvas isn’t feathered
although it’s gets brushed
by plumes
an ivory tower
built by clay
feet or pigeons
up up up
tiptoes or wing-beats
mis-steps or clumsy flaps
how you got there
all the same
the view isn’t prejudice
soak it in
ignore the clouds
building below
they come and go
cry and fade
always, absolutely
impotent
without the wind
