Ode to ice cream!

in poetry •  7 years ago  (edited)

Oh, ice cream!

Lick of frost nipping at my pleading tongue

It tingles and stabilizes. The electricity-

electricity! Soaring into a cloud of euphoria

Light as air it bounces from bud to bud

Before exploding into a million memories,

Each as favourable as the last.

The creamy crop of joy, sought by a parched tongue

It is silk, but with substance-powerful yet transparent.

The glass bends and warps to the image in the mirror

But it is only what I want-what I need to see.

And it is gone, a mere raindrop in the afternoon sun.
