The Pale Horse

The vicious cycle has returned
Clawing, biting, stinging
The hands on the clock begin to shake
I push down and rotate

Swallow enough and water it down
The hurricane starts to whisper
My heart beat in the distance
The silence has greeted my thoughts

Like a lost friend I embrace the quiet
There is a warmth inside this shell
The pain is gone, I've forgotten me
Covered in confusion and bliss

These regrets fill me no more
A pale horse to ride to the end
I knew this day would come
Pushing the envelope one too many

Shallow breaths gently fill the air
Pupils open like blackwood doors
I guess my family couldn't come
The horse only had room for me

The heart beat in the distance is gone
