everyday I fall asleep
and I think about not waking up
everyday I remember
and to the things I have done
everyday I breath deep
and fill the air with such deceit
everyday I touch
and my fingers feel the emptiness
everyday I can hear
and the sound of silence burns
everyday I do taste
and bitterness that lingers on air
everyday I do see
and shadows march past here
everyday I take steps
and my life give me shackles
everyday I forget
and the ghost touches my shoulder
everyday I run hard
and toward what I am running from
everyday I give smile
and the hatred looks me back
everyday I awaken
and night becomes my friend
everyday I try to shout
and the din silences my cries
everyday I eat
and the taste turns my stomach
everyday I tell time
and forever seems to pass me by
everyday I make wishes
for the demons to take leave
everyday I imagine
and the reality delivers such lies
everyday I try to grasp
and the straw comes ever shorter
everyday I ask
and the answer begs for me to say
everyday I get tired
and the path goes forever on
one day I open my eyes
and the nightmares will be gone
and that will be that
