In the realm where extremes of spirits dwell,
Two kinds of souls traverse this mortal coil.
The first, with inner light so pure and swell,
Attract the dark, as night does to the soil.

This light within, though bright, becomes their bane,
For darkness seeks to quench what gleams so fair.
Outward they wear the night's own sable stain,
And bear the weight of gloom in grim despair.

They think themselves as dark as pitch at night,
Yet 'tis a lie they harbor in their breast.
For in them burns the ever-lasting light,
That through the dark, seeks ways to manifest.

The second kind, with shadows in their heart,
Devour the light, to cloak their inner night.
They shine with stolen rays, play the bright part,
But 'tis a ruse that fades from sight.

These souls, they yearn to mimic day's warm glow,
To bask in light they've seized but cannot own.
For deep within, the darkness ever grows,
And leaves them lost, in twilight alone.

Between these poles, humanity thus lies,
A tapestry of chaos, grey and vast.
Where truth and falsehood mingle in disguise,
And clarity is clouded by the past.

So ponder now, the nature of your soul,
Are you the light? Or doth the darkness call?
For in this life, we play a varied role,
And in the end, the grey encompasses all.

“There are two types of souls. Those with the light who are magnets for darkness and those with the dark who are vampires of light. Humanity is a confusing grey mixture of both.”
