Electric Unicycle Poetry (A Night in Bangalore)

in poetry •  8 years ago  (edited)

As a I glide across the hot Indian night.
Blurry faces with sparkling eyes pierce my back as i pass them.
Aromas of my people with the sound of modern musical acts playing from an electric solo wheel, like magic.
Streets dogs voice their complaints if I ride too fast, so I slow down to appease them.
For street dogs are gatekeepers of the night here.
I play chicken with a big bus and win.
Bending corners defying my reality and an onlookers perception.
Traffic is a monster that I am invisible to.
While hungry cars wait brooding in the night i pass in between them humming.
Like riding a serpents back above the city but not above the stares of the public.
Its like being a superhero.
When you dawn the mask people flock but when you hop off the unicycle you become just one of the normal people.
As i glide through the hot Indian night.
I pray that I stay sleeping.
For i must continue this dream of mine.
