Hell You?

Machines bleep and pump
Oppressive heat pushing me down
In the too soft bed

My voice scratches out
Thin and needy
For water

For help

I see them rushing past
Benign jailors
By indifference

Then I see him
Standing, watching me
Smiling at my discomfort

Unsettling eyes in an ageless face
Help me, I gasp
Clawing a hand out in pain

Hell you?
A sibilant hiss retorts
I feel a blackness rise within

It's getting hotter now
