Can't Sleep

I lie here in the dark,
Waiting to fall asleep,
I hear the humming of the fan,
Whispering secrets I try to keep.

I focus on the whirring,
Of the fan blades next to me,
They are chopping up the air,
Dividing matter I cannot see.

As I think about the swirling air,
All around my bed,
I release my thoughts up with it,
To help me clear my head.

My empty head is heavy,
There is peace across my face,
I will be back here tomorrow,
Struggling in this same dark place.
