Darkness

in poetry •  7 years ago

Darkness – Mother dear
Most gentle and kind;
Her cozy lap diminishes fear
And brings peace of mind

Enchantment – exotic!
Nurtures the adoring few;
Caressing all thoughts, chaotic
While the soul suckles truth.

In her arms alone
The warmth of love surrounds;
Enlightenment – unknown
When you can’t see beyond.

About this Poem:

In this poem, the imagery is of a mother caressing and nursing her baby.

Darkness is personified as a kind and gentle mother. One finds peace and is rid of all fear just like a baby in the arms of a mother.

Very few people get engulfed in the mysterious magic of darkness; their troubled insides are calmed, and the soul imbibes truth just like a baby sucking the mother’s breast.

The baby feels secure only in the arms of the mother. The warmth and security of love comes with enlightenment. Darkness helps one to look within and get enlightened.
