Alamathea

By
Jonathan Welch

Hungry, cold winter night
Finds my heart and takes a bite
Venomous and gory fangs
Infected with lonesome pangs

She of pale and sharp face
Her eyes chill ice
And everywhere they chase
Resting with cat's grace

Alamathea is her name
Stealing tears is her fame
Tonight I am her's she proclaims
Pointed cruel claw lays claim

Our Symphony this Night ensnares your soul
I’ll gleefully watch it consume you whole
Mortal suffer, I can’t do without
Anger, sadness makes you a fount

I succumb to the night
And the venom of its bite
The bitter cold
In my heart takes hold

She floats ever closer
Everything growing colder
Sick smile ,dark heart
Wide wings, lips part

With fluid grace and a single claw
She takes it from me, takes it all
Hope and fear, faith and doubt
All of it comes tumbling out
