Ceremony: Memorial Day

The ceremony was short
sun shining by the grave
tears all around
remembering all that he gave

The widow has tears
memories fill her mind
of things they had done
the ties that bind

In the midst of her sorrow
she feels a small hand
looking into those eyes
she sees a great land

In that smile
she sees all his dreams
being able to be fulfilled
he is not as far away as it seems

In those small hands
there are things to be built
perhaps a cure for disease
or a house with a tilt

Suddenly he seems
not so far away
feeling his love and joy
he is in her heart to stay
