Vanish

vanish

how well do you trust these
lying eyes of mine
that bore
through your skin to your soul
and send signals
that everything is fine
while swimming
in saltwater seas?

do you believe
the smile you trace
strained under your fingertips
that falls whenever you turn away
to land
somewhere
around my knees?

did you hear the words
i didn’t say
or read the letters
i never wrote?
did you save the date
that i erased
from the calendar
i threw away?

have you noticed yet
that you’re missing me
from a space
i never occupied?

There is no lesson in the ironies of fate
But the ones learned by wise men laughing

fate is not cruel
It is the way it should be
for the sailors to learn there part
there could not have been a better sea

What would blind men see in a world full of light
What good is darkness for one with sight
Is it not here that ironies abound
and no good reason for it is found

Wonderful! Thanks for stopping by.

My pleasure :-)

Beautiful! :)

Magical use of words as usual. My soul is dancing :)

Thank you. I am humbled by your praise.

Really nice. I dabble in writing poetry too but this was really good

Thank you.

I've really loved it! gave me nostalgic

Thanks for reading.

We all make assumptions and often perceive a reality that doesn’t exist. And sometimes we fall into the trap of going along with the false perceptions of others enforcing the deception. Sometimes it’s just too hard to be honest accept in our poetry.

Reminds me of an old song by the Eagles, called “You can’t hide those lying eyes”

Love this poem.

Thank you.
